Manathai Cooking School

Located in the heart of Patong on the third floor of the Playhouse theater, the Manathai Cooking School welcomes you to discover and experience the culinary wonders of Thai cuisine.

The Manathai Cooking School has fully equipped facilities offering students the chance to learn about Thai culture and to use your hands to practice the art of Thai cooking.

Each class starts off in our air conditioned theater with visual presentations of ingredients, techniques in addition to learning the different styles of Thai cuisine found in the different provinces throughout Thailand.

Each class will be followed by a meal that the students prepare downstairs in the dining room of the Playhouse restaurant as well as additional Thai dishes.

After completing the class besides the knowledge of culture and cuisine the student will receive a certificate along with a designer apron made by local Thai artisans.

Our courses

A Taste of Thai – Morning Class start 9:30am Students choose four of their favorite Thai dishes to master in this class lasting approximately 3 hours. Essential herbs and sauces used in Thai cooking along with brief introduction to the different style’s of cooking throughout Thailand are taught. Sitting down, eating and discussing with other students your experiences together with a Manathai cooking certificate and apron concludes your learning experience. 1700. baht including transportation within Surin and Patong areas.

Stylish Thai – Afternoon Class Starts 1:30pm Our most popular class includes an in-depth virtual tour of a Thai market. With a primary focus on ingredients this course teaches the student how to shop and choose the correct ingredients and what to substitute should that ingredient not be available in your local market. Mastering the timing, presentation, cooking methods and correct technique this class is for the serious student who wants to impress his guests. Class length is approximately 4 hours and includes lunch. A Manathai cooking certificate with designer apron is awarded upon completion. 2500. baht including transportation within Surin and Patong areas.

Program of Manathai Cooking School

Morning Class
9:30am Students will be welcomes with a special Thai herb drink and enter the Theater for a brief video orientation.
10:00am The group will go upstairs to the demonstration table where the instructor will present a demonstration of the techniques needed to prepare and cook Thai cuisine.
10:45am Cooking time! Each student will use his own utensils at individual cooking and preparation stations. Assisted by the instructor the student will now practice the techniques demonstrated and afterwards enjoy the fruits of their labor.
12:30pm Lunch in the restaurant. Now is the time to taste your prepared dishes as well as that of your fellow students in the luxurious dining room of the Playhouse.
